Accommodation
The Spritsail barges that remain operational in England are usually converted into a form where they are attractive to Maritime tourists seeking day trips, or short voyages up to one week duration, involving several local “Ancient English” ports of call.
The hull shape proves good possibilities for attractive accommodation, comprising a large saloon aft, accessed by a companionway from the deck leading to cabin accommodation forward. A good example of this layout is that used in the 23 m long British spritsail sailing barge Alice
In Alice, the large saloon room, which is 50 square metres and can fit up to 20 guests, incorporates 4 sofa beds for overnight stays and includes comfortable seating. Other cabins sleep up to two or three, with Alice containing four 2-berth cabins and one 3-berth cabin. There are 3 toilet facility rooms; one with a power shower and another even has a bath.
Altogether, Alice has 15 beds, with all cabins having central heating via a log burning stove with back boiler, living areas, large, flat screen TVs and high quality sound systems.
The accommodation plan for the 25m Turkish Gulet "Mehmetusta" is similar, providing 6 cabins with en-suite Bath and WC for 12 guests, as well as a spacious saloon with bar and kitchen (Galley)
