The four implementation levels of the Anam Cara framework

The four implementation levels of he Aman Cara frameworkmay be mapped onto the three cycles (Micro Meso and Macro) of Van Wijk et.al.'s (2019) "Framework for Social innovation Integrating micro, meso and macro level insights from institutional theory”, as follows:

At the Anam Cara Personal level (micro cycle)

Van Wijk et. al. state: The micro cycle of Our framework zooms in individual enactors, proposing that actors become more agentic through their interactions with others. In these interactions, they experience emotions which enable them to hear and understand others’ viewpoints, stimulating reflexivity, challenging taken-for-granted perspectives, creating room for new, innovative perspectives to enter their thinking and acting. (Van Wijk et al., 2019, p. 890)"

Here Anam Cara addresses "A unified inclusive world: Alive and Spiritual: Embraced Bottom-up' and "What is an Anam Cara? It provides for your optional belief in Anam Cara spirituality, generated bottom- up.

At the Anam Cara Interpersonal Level (meso cycle)

Van Wijk et. al. state: Our framework zooms out to the meso level, pointing to increases in interactions among diverse actors and their engagement in understanding each other’s perspectives and interests, It is at this meso level, where we see how actors’ interactions and framing produce the frictions, highlight the tensions, and identify or create the cracks behind the new opportunities for social innovation (Van Wijk et al., 2019, p. 891).

At the Anam Cara Community Level (meso cycle)

Here Anam Cara addresses the generation and archiving of explanatory and practical resources in new contexts that can profitably push the emergence of novel possibilities for sustainability of Positive Affirmation and self-love. Two examples: (i) Creation of Anam Cara Communities of Practice (virtual or physical) where aman-cara mentors and mentees can share experiences of bouncing forward, inspiring others. (ii) Building an archive for community members' stories, created in multimedia (electronic scrap books, podcasts, videos, etc), describing activities located in diverse contexts that promote resilience and self-growth

At the Compassionate Institutional Level (Macro cycle)

The Van Wijk framework zooms further out to the macro cycle. It recognises that
institutional contexts, often structured around organisational fields, guiding or even disciplining the dynamics of the micro and meso cycles. This macro view is important because it allows acknowledgment of how institutional contexts differ in their enabling and constraining influences on actors’ actions. Institutional contexts enhance, or stall the agentic energy emerging from the micro and meso cycles.

At this top level of Anam Cara, Compassionate Institutions' policy frameworks actively create environments where anam cara-type relationships can flourish. An Example of this; of these are the Educational Youth Partners (Compassionate Institutions) specialising in teacher training, in parent education and in building digital communities, thus providing facilitation of Anam Cara Mentor counselling activities (see Part Four, chapter 2).

An example of a compassionate Institution offering a comprehensive support and resources to anam caras (soul friends) and community members, is Happiness is Love (https://happinessislove.org ). Happiness is Love offers:

Empathetic listening Resources:
